Heidi M. Williams, PhD

College Professor | Homeschool Educator

I'm an Associate Professor specializing in Composition and Technical Writing. I have dedicated my career to cultivating classroom spaces that empower students through writing and speaking. I design structured, active, and creative environments for learning through innovative courses that are engaging, practical, and have larger civic implications.

In addition to being a college professor, I homeschool my two young children. Homeschool is an alternative schooling method that allows children to grow, learn, and thrive at their own pace. I, too, grow, learn, and thrive with them. This website and blog reflect my commitment to home education through the lens of a college educator.

I offer consulting services in life coaching, career development, and homeschool family planning.

(While some of the blog posts discuss my teaching strategies and reflections, none of these statements or posts reflect my employer.)

"I think I want to be an English teacher, but I feel like it's not enough for me just to teach stories. I feel like I need to be doing something else--something that is making the stories."  -2005 (In a letter to my single-father as I considered dropping out of graduate school).
